The 35th Toronto International Film Festival has announced this year's line-up of Galas and Special Presentations which take place September 9 to 19th, 2010. Three films making their World Premiere at the festival that have queer interest (that I've noticed so far) are: Beginners, Yves Saint Laurent - Pierre Berge, L'Amour Fou and Rabbit Hole.
The Listings:
Beginners - Mike Mills, (USA)
When his 71-year-old father (Christopher Plummer) comes out of the closet, Oliver (Ewan McGregor) must explore the honesty of his own relationships. From the director of Thumbsucker.
Yves Saint Laurent - Pierre Berge, L'Amour Fou - Pierre Thoretton, (France)
Yves Saint Laurent built one of fashion's most celebrated empires. This moving documentary chronicles his rise, his lifelong partnership with Pierre Bergé and their decision to auction off a lifetime of precious art and objects.
Rabbit Hole - John Cameron Mitchell, (USA)
A family navigates the deepest form of loss in John Cameron Mitchell's screen adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize winning play by David Lindsay-Abaire. Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart deliver captivating performances as a husband and wife who fight to save their marriage in the life that begins again after tragedy.
More Film Fest Highlights:
In addition to these three films, TIFF announced this week 15 Galas and 35 Special Presentations for this year's Festival, including 25 World Premieres, representing a great selection of films and talent. Additional Gala and Special Presentation titles will follow in the coming weeks; the 2010 film schedule will be posted Aug 24th at the TIFF 2010 festival website.
